Kristina Kelley named executive director of the Washington State Wine Commission As Will said himself, “I believe he may be the world’s largest person who is really, really gay” (Green 6). For starters, Tiny with his name contradicting his real-life image of being gigantic, nearly a whole head taller than Will. He’s already the kind of character that makes a strong impression to the readers, especially considering the fact that the book is filled with opposites. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Tiny is portrayed much like a positive guy, which makes me also wonder, what makes him the way he is. While reading, I’ve also come to realize that I want to get to know this character, more than his projection in the book. Now, let me introduce you to Tiny Cooper, Will’s huge gay best friend. In contrast, will has to work part-time to supplement the two of their living. Even just the simple things like how Will doesn’t work, yet having his own debit card, which was probably provided by his parents, reveal his wealth. I know the story’s set in modern time so social status isn’t such a significant issue, but you can tell how will and his mother struggle to live off the bare minimum of wage. I honestly think that the chapters for Will, who’s obviously living a more opulent life than will, uses proper capitalizations to give readers the effect of feeling like he is a bigger character than will. Nowadays, the film is far more famous than the book an action classic, of sorts. King wrote it in a week (in fact, 72 hours, apparently) and it was pretty much published as a first draft. And that was a curious experience for me.įirst published in 1982 under the Bachman pseudonym, The Running Man is a particularly SFish dystopian novel about a future where America is run by a totalitarian government, and television game shows are bloody and omnipresent. I watched the movie, because the TV movie of It was (to my adolescent self) incredible, and I had seen The Shining and that was incredible, and this had Arnold Schwarzenegger in it and I loved Predator… It was a series of things that led to me watching the film first, and then reading the book. I knew that it was a Stephen King novel it was the last of the compiled Bachman Books I owned (though not the last to be written by the Bachman persona there were still three more to be published – four if you count Misery), the only one I hadn't read yet. The Running Man was, for me, one of those books you read after you've seen the movie. Anyone wanting to participate in this community needs to keep their comments civil.
